It was a beautiful day for a great cricket match between players from Mississauga Ram Mandir (MRM) and Devi Mandir. Although our team lacked practice, they persevered and played well for the duration of the match. The official umpire for the match was none other than Amarnath Binda, President of Devi Mandir. The team captain for Devi Mandir was Sam Persaud.
Vic Persaud He encouraged the players to have fun and play fair. One memorable play came from our very own, Pandit Sohan Lalji, who caught twice for two wickets. His sportsmanship and conduct on the field granted him the honorable MVP award for Team Devi Mandir. The MRM Team won the match by a fair margin and called for a rematch; scheduled for September. The team captain encouraged games such as these for other temples in the GTA because it builds community and creates a friendly, fun, and social atmosphere. He also encouraged youth to participate in this sport. We look forward to the rematch in September!!! Thanks to the organizers and both Mandirs for a fun-filled afternoon.
