Police probe vandalism at Devi Mandir |

 Devi Mandir The Durham Regional Police Service is asking the community to identify the person(s) responsible for vandalizing the Devi Mandir Temple on Brock Road in Pickering over the weekend.
Sometime in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 28th, 2008, person(s) unknown smeared fecal material on the front glass doors of the Hindu Temple. Detectives are reviewing video surveillance images as the investigation continues.
Police Chief Mike Ewles is disturbed by this incident and is urging someone to step forward with information.
“This act of vandalism, tinged with hatred, is most disturbing and we want to send a strong message out that this type of ignorance will not be tolerated in Durham Region,” the Chief says, “Members of this Temple contribute greatly to the richness and vitality of our community and these acts are reprehensible and totally unacceptable.”
Anyone with information about this ongoing investigation is asked to contact D/Cst. Silipo of the 19 Division (Ajax-Pickering) Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2531.
Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 and tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
